Maurice Dumit, MPT
For Maurice Dumit, owner and physical therapist, effectively treating people’s pain requires good hands and an open mind. The goal of all therapy, Maurice believes, is to create a stable foundation for pain and injury to resolve. To accomplish this requires a hands-on approach that restores neutral postures, elongates tight, shortened tissues and strengthens stabilizing muscles. It also requires the knowledge that pain is often an echo of dysfunction far from the site of pain. “You can’t completely resolve someone’s hip or back pain if you never find the stone in their shoe”. In short, successful treatment is the result of a whole-person approach.
Maurice founded INVIVO in 2002, creating a place where people can access skilled complimentary, alternative and medical health practitioners who have different approaches but similar philosophies and goals. INVIVO is a place where people can discover fitness and wellness options that are readily accessible and encourage exploration. It is a place that intends to inspire and achieve a sense of balance and well-being.
Maurice holds a Masters of Physical Therapy degree from Marquette University and a bachelor of science in Kinesiology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He is currently working toward his Doctorate degree through the University of St. Augustine, specializing in Manual Therapy. Maurice is a devoted golfer, a student of yoga and a reluctant runner.
