Dane LaFontseeDane LaFontsee, certified Pedorthist, is trained in the assessment, design, manufacture, fit and modification of foot appliances, orthotics and footwear. His expertise is an integral part of alleviating both painful and debilitating conditions of the feet, knees, hips and spine.

Orthletek, Mr. LaFontsee’s company, was founded to serve the pedorthic needs of people of all ages and activity levels. He has over 30 years experience in body alignment and movement, especially of the feet and legs, through his career as a principal ballet dancer, artistic director for several major ballet companies, ballet instructor and lecturer. His rare combination of personal athletic experience, plus training in foot anatomy, pathology, biomechanics, and orthotic construction, makes him a uniquely qualified orthotic supplier.

Dane LaFontseeDane LaFontsee founded his company, Orthletek, in 1996 to serve the pedorthic needs of athletes and active people of all ages. In addition to treating recreational athletes, Mr. LaFontsee provides pedorthic services for the Milwaukee Brewers, the Milwaukee Ballet, the Milwaukee Wave and Marquette University’s basketball, soccer and track and field teams.  He is the pedorthic provider for the Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Sports Medicine. A graduate of Extra Depth University in Milwaukee, Mr. LaFontsee was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1999.

He was one of ten pedorthists from around the world selected for the medical team at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. It was the first game in Olympic history to use pedorthic services, and the team treated athletes from all nations and all sports.

Mr. LaFontsee is an active member of the PFA board of directors. He has lectured for the Pedorthic Footwear Association, The Medical College of Wisconsin, Marquette University, and the Wisconsin Physical Therapists Association on topics including: Team Management of Sport Injuries; The Athlete: Special Talents, Special Needs, Special Treatment; Pedorthic Management of Foot Problems of Ballet Dancers; Foot Orthoses and Shoe Modifications for Athletic Foot Problems; Pedorthic Management of Sports Injuries; Dance Related Foot Injuries and Prevention; Use of Orthoses for Sports Injuries and Prevention; and Anatomy of The Dancer. Published papers include “The Athlete, Special Talents, Special Needs, Special Treatment” in O&P Business News and “Soccer Shoes and Orthoses: Construction and Fit Affect Performance” in Current Pedorthics Magazine. In addition, Mr. LaFontsee has taught pedorthic courses at Extra Depth University and the Medical College of Wisconsin.
