Hatha Yoga (All Levels)
Hatha yoga focuses on learning the poses (asanas) that are central to most forms of yoga. Breathing in conjunction with movement is emphasized. Benefits include increased tone, strength, flexibility, balance, mind-body awareness and relaxation.
Yoga for Mind, Body and Spirit (All levels)
A smooth, meditative flow class coordinating the mind, body and breath. This rhythmic style strengthens the physical body while reducing excess tension and quieting the mind. By integrating the subtle and physical systems of the body and mind, the practice promotes well-being and produces a heightened state of spiritual awareness.
Seasonal Yoga (All Levels)
This 75-minute class will focus on how the seasons affect you and will help you understand your natural Ayurvedic constitution, experience the elements and learn how to maintain balance throughout the seasons with asana (posture), pranayama (breath) and relaxation techniques. This class is good for those with yoga experience looking to deepen their yoga practice and learn seasonal techniques to stay in balance.
Yoga for Healing (All Levels)
A gentle class focused on healing. The class will consist of safe, effective yoga postures, along with basic breathing techniques and an extensive savasana. An in-depth approach to finding a healthier way of living. All levels are welcome.
Sunday Renewal/Lunchtime Renewal (All levels)
This class includes invigorating strengthening postures and vinyasa with mindful attention to technique and alignment. Longer holds, or muscle stamina, is integrated with vinyasa to bring attention to the integration of breath work. The initial grounding of the class and conscious relaxation of final savasana provide an environment to support detoxification and stress reduction for the mind and body. This is a well-balanced yoga session designed to inspire the mind, body and spirit connection. Some yoga experience is preferred, but beginners are welcome and encouraged to attend – please alert your instructor that you are a beginner. Beginner and advanced modifications are provided for all levels.
Mindful Yoga & Meditation (All levels)
Mindful Yoga & Meditation is based on hatha yoga and inspired by the Kripalu Yoga approach that focuses on body and breath awareness. This gentle class offers a flowing sequence of stretching, rejuvenating and restorative yoga postures, yogic breathing (pranayama) and meditation techniques. All are welcome. This class is good for those seeking a gentler practice as well as relief from stress, an overworked mind and an tense body. Ideal for anyone who wants to learn simple relaxation techniques using breath and meditation.
Yin-Yang Yoga (All Levels)
This class blends strengthening postures and flow sequences, yin and restorative poses and conscious relaxation exercises. Move into the deeper, more meditative aspects of yoga. Balance and integrate the mind, body and spirit.
Yoga Dance (All Levels)
Take your practice off the mat and let your yoga dance! Warm up with strengthening yoga sequences before enjoying yoga-inspired group movement. No experience with yoga or dance is necessary but may be helpful. Come with an open heart and get ready to spread your wings.
Five Elements QiGong (All Levels)
Five Element QiGong can be described as the art of effortless flow. It is a unique exercise that cultivates health and internal balance by mirroring the movements of nature. The focus of this class will be balancing the flow of internal energy (Qi) through tai chi style movements and exercises that focus the mind, align the posture, relax the body, and encourage proper breathing.
Golden Shield QiGong (All Levels)
Golden Shield QiGong is a traditional energy cultivation system based on the theories of Chinese Medicine. This practice cultivates high levels of health and vitality by integrating body, mind and energy through the careful application of physical practice, meditation, and herbs. This is a specialty class that requires a monthly fee through Golden Shield. Monthly membership can be purchased through the instructor prior to or after the class.
Hatha Yoga Basics (Level 1)
Learn the basics of Hatha yoga and safely ease your way into your yoga practice. Develop body and breath awareness and learn the basic poses (asanas) and proper alignment. This class is great for beginners or those looking for a refresher on the basics of Hatha Yoga.
Yoga Fusion (Level 1-2)
A fusion of Hatha yoga, core strengthening and repetitive movement exercises to promote joint stability and mobility. We may make use of stability balls, blocks and straps for support in this class. This is a great class for beginner to intermediate participants.
Chakra Flow + Meditation (Level 1-2)
In Sanskrit, Chakra means “wheel” or “vortex.” In our bodies, there are seven primary chakras that start at the base of our body and travel up to the crown of our head. When these energy centers are out of balance, we can experience physical, energetic and emotional imbalances within the body. Each week this class will focus on one or several chakras to open through postures, breath and mudras and will also include an explanation of the qualities and characteristics that rest in each of these energy centers. To open and bring balance to our chakras is to heal the body, mind and spirit.
Sun Salutations (Level 2)
Start the day with a vigorous practice of Sun Salutations. This dynamic class will warm and energize the body. A series of salutations will be linked to the rhythm of the breath and will include a variety of standing and seated postures and savasana (relaxation). This class is open to advanced beginners/continuing students.
Vinyasa Flow (Levels 2-3)
Vinyasa flow links breath and movement, promoting harmony of mind, body and spirit. This class will focus on the dynamic sequence of flowing yoga postures built around Sun Salutations. Experience an increase in energy and strength while building heat in the body. More advanced back bends, inversions and balances will be explored. Sunrise Vinyasa Flow is similar in format with an extra emphasis on back-bends and waking up the body and mind.
Mindful Vinyasa (Levels 2-3)
This Vinyasa-based class links breath and movement while bringing extra attention to technique and alignment. The mindful combination is taught from the heart and offers rhythm and precision. Prior yoga experience recommended.
Yoga for Strength and Alignment (Levels 2-3)
This class will focus on how to correctly align the bones and muscles. With a healthy, mindful, and intelligent approach emphasis will be placed on inversions and arm balances. Benefits include gaining strength, flexibility and peace of mind. Not appropriate for beginners.
Specialty Classes
Yoga Therapy (All Levels)
Yoga Therapy focuses on health and wellness at all levels of the person: physical, psychological and spiritual. Classes are client driven to encourage safe participation by all students. Sessions include body scanning and breath technique (pranayama), supported physical movement (chair work, symmetrical standing work and on the earth), visualization, relaxation and meditation. Whether you have been diagnosed with Cancer, are going through a life transition, are dealing with symptoms of chronic illness like Rheumatoid Arthritis or simply need some time to breath, move and release stress, you can find healing tools and support in our Yoga Therapy class. These are specialty classes that require Yoga Therapy packages or an increased drop-in rate for both members and non-members. Please visit our front desk or website for more information on prices.
Prenatal Yoga (All Trimesters)
Our prenatal program is designed to promoted flexibility, muscle toning and strengthening, as well as improve balance and circulation throughout the pregnancy. Classes will also include breathing and relaxation techniques that will help you prepare for labor and delivery. Each class includes restorative poses, adjustments and liberal use of support props.
Mom & Baby Yoga (5-week series; dates/times vary)
This workshop series is designed for mothers and their babies age six weeks to eight months. The practice is gentle and will invite moms to incorporate their babies into every pose. No matter what your baby’s behavior, you’ll find joy in sharing the practice of yoga with your little one. Feel free to bring your own mat, baby blanket and your baby’s favorite small toys. Fitness Classes
Core Challenge (All Levels)
This class incorporates a balanced series of core (abdominals, low back and pelvis) strengthening exercises with an emphasis on effective and efficient ways to target the abdominal muscles.
Circuit Club (All Levels)
This will be an action packed class that includes toning and strengthening exercises mixed with cardio drills. The group dynamics and partner work make this a fun and invigorating class for everyone!
